Before starting the article, I bow to the divine soul about whom this article is being written.
It is said that human life is considered to be meaningful and successful for the one, on whose birth the newborn cries and the family rejoices and there is a smile on the face after death, And the relatives, companions involved in the funeral procession become like crying.
I am talking about my colleague Dr. Ganga Singh Chauhan, M.D. who left this world two years ago, but his memories still remain in the hearts and minds of thousands of people. After his death, his last rites were performed at his farmhouse “Arogya Dham” in Sadri town of Pali district, which was his wish. I also went to Sadri from Jodhpur to attend his funeral that day and garlanded him at the last moment. My companion lay on the death bed, with eyes closed, giving me the impression that even after death, he is looking at me with a smile on his face. You will be surprised to know that Thakurs of Pali district, Muslim leaders, Sikh leaders, poor people and rich people from Bombay attended his funeral that day. On that day, in the funeral procession, everyone was emotional and we’re kind of trying to hold their tears off.
Now you will be curious to know what my fellow doctor did in life, which created the above environment. I am presenting a little account of it.
- Friendly treatment to all the sick, their relatives, farm house workers and anyone who met him. I have been associated with his family in Jodhpur for sixty years. I do not remember that in his life he has offended anyone. Even seeing his public fame, a politician had tried to kill him many years ago by giving him the appearance of an accident, but his car driver’s alertness saved his life. The same person was later cured by him from a terrible disease without prejudice.
- While holding the post of Chief Medical Officer in Pali district, in Pali Government Hospital, with the financial support of donors, created wards for Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Institute, Burn Unit, Trauma Center and T.B. Earlier, being the Chief Medical Officer of a small government hospital in Sadri town, he inspired the donors to expand the building and provided modern equipment. Similarly in Jalore Serving as head Medical Officer, Intensive Care Unit, TB ward and Burn units and providing necessary equipment with the support of donors.
- He was the Director without pay of Harigiri Hospital, Kakira (Himachal Pradesh). Along with this, Sadri, Jalore branch of the Indian Red Cross Society was the founder president.
- He identified about 300 AIDS victims in Pali district and in Jalore and Sirohi districts, which is now a matter of 30 years ago. Arranged for free medicine for life saving and rehabilitation, on his own.
- He did research about para citrus disease germ, tapeworm, dengue virus and AIDS and Indian Medical Association published in its journal and got cognizance.
- It was my good fortune that he kept a relationship with me like a real brother for life and inspired me to live a happy life.
Readers, now you must have been convinced that who will not feel sad when such a simple, service-oriented, affectionate, efficacious and healer of sorrows leaves this world.
