Daughter-in-law’s father-in-law :- One of my fellow executive engineers from the electrical department is retired and resides in Jodhpur only. His wife passed away two years ago. His eldest son passed away fifteen years ago. The younger son and daughter-in-law are staying in the government quarters because of their government jobs. As old age progressed, he thought that in front of him, I should distribute my property to both the sons. So he sold his bungalow in the posh colony and divided the property among sons and daughters and bought a bigger house for the daughter-in-law and two grandchildren of the younger boy in a colony outside the city and himself started living with the widowed daughter-in-law. After completing the eighties, the body started to sag and diseases surrounded him. I keep going to take care of them. One day when I reached his house, the daughter-in-law said that you sit and feed my father. In front of me, I made my father-in-law sit on the bed and supported him with his feet from behind and started feeding a plate in one hand and a mouthful of bread in the other.
My companions were unable to even open their eyes due to weakness and became even more weak. After feeding she started caressing her father-in-law’s head like a mother caresses her baby after taking a bath. I imagined that after the death of my partner’s mother, I was born again in her house as a daughter-in-law. You have seen the relation of the daughter-in-law with the father-in-law, son’s father is a high administrative officer in the Rajasthan government, who is known to me. He was born in a small village to a teacher’s house. Then he got selected in the Indian Administrative Service due to his hard work. She was also married to a high administrative officer, who probably seemed to be of a high family. Bhai Saheb used to visit the village to take care of her father. When that Gurudev reached full old age with time, the son said, what is your last wish? Father said- I want to stay in Haridwar and give up my life there. That administrative officer took his father to Haridwar. He did his full service for three-four months, even used to wash his dirty clothes with father’s excreta and urine and before leaving the body, father continued to bless him a lot.
